An Ilan alumna and valedictorian, Mrs. Abadi earned her bachelor's from Excelsior College in Liberal Arts. In addition to teaching at Ilan, Mrs. Abadi has experience teaching chemistry and algebra in other community schools. Her exciting lessons and enthusiastic delivery motivate her students and make her classroom the ideal learning environment.

As a coach for over 10 years, Mrs. Sarah Abadi has a wealth of experience as well as talent in a wide range of athletics. She graduated from Brooklyn College majoring in English and minoring in Education. She has coached in many schools including Magen David Yeshiva, Yeshiva of Flatbush, Hillel Yeshiva and Ilan High School. Mrs. Sarah Abadi led our basketball team to a monumental victory, defeating a high school who held the championship title for 18 years!

A graduate of Machon Bnos Yehuda Teacher’s Seminary in Israel, Mrs. Anzarouth is a beloved member of the Ilan High School faculty. Her creative teaching methods and dedication to the needs of each individual student serve to create a classroom environment in which each student can shine.

A master science teacher with a passion for chemistry, Mrs. Aryeh holds a Bachelors degree in Science and a Masters degree in Science Education. She has nearly a decade of classroom experience as a teacher of science, math, and Judaic studies at many fine schools, and has served as the Program Coordinator for Be’er HaGolah High School in New York. Mrs. Aryeh brings significant mastery of her subject material, an infectious love for science, and a great clarity of presentation to her students.
 

Mrs. Faiga Rochel Bernikier Chumash & Beur Tefillah

Mrs. Bernikier attended Bet Yaakov Teachers seminary in Jerusalem, and is completing her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. Her teaching experience includes positions at Bet Yaakov D’Rav Meir and Deal Yeshiva. Mrs. Bernikier’s intriguing and fast-paced classes enable our students to develop the tools necessary to become lifelong learners while enhancing critical thinking and analytic abilities. She also serves as the grade adviser for our junior class.

Mrs. Rachel Beyda graduated with honors from Hadar Teachers' Seminary in Jerusalem. She has over a decade of experience teaching, most recently teaching the Regents track of English and History at Ateret Torah High School and B'not Rachel High School in Brooklyn. She is a recipient of the NYS Leaders of Tomorrow award. Mrs. Beyda combines a love for each student with a clear and down-to-earth teaching style, making her a highly sought after and respected educator.
 

Mrs. Bobby Braha Studio Art

Mrs. Bobbie Braha attended Brookdale Community College and Touro College. She also received teacher certification through Torah U’Mesorah. A talented and creative artist, Mrs. Braha has taught art at Hillel Yeshiva High School, and is currently teaching art at Ilan and Bet Yaakov in addition to running private art classes in her home for adults and children. Mrs. Braha is known for her beautiful wall murals and magnificent Judaica paintings. Her work has been displayed at several community art shows, and at the Monmouth Festival of the Arts. Mrs. Braha enjoys helping the Ilan students tap into their creativity and develop their artistic skills.
 

Mrs. Devorah Cohen Chumash & Beur Tefillah

Mrs. Cohen earned her teaching certification at Bet Yaakov Seminary and served at the helm of a free tutorial program. A beloved and well-respected member of the Ilan faculty, Mrs. Cohen focuses strongly on skill building and inculcates strong Torah values in her students. Her exuberant classroom presentation fosters a love for learning and trains our students to discover the questions of the mefarshim and an enhanced awareness of their methodologies. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, Mrs. Cohen serves as a grade adviser for our sophomore class.

An alumna of Ilan High School, where she graduated as salutatorian, Mrs. Cohen holds teacher certification from the New Seminary, a bachelor's degree from Adelphi University, and a master's degree from Daemon College. She also holds New Jersey State Certification in Education and Special Education. A dynamic, connective, and engaging educator, Mrs. Cohen runs a highly interactive classroom in which students explore key concepts in Jewish thought. She is a beloved role model for the Ilan students.
 

Mrs. Bethany Daneshgar Math

Mrs. Daneshgar earned her Bachelors of Science in Merchandising with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Delaware. With an extensive background as a licensed investment professional, Mrs. Daneshgar brings a well-earned real world perspective to teaching mathematics. She leads her classroom with respect for the subject matter and takes pride in helping her students discover their abilities far exceed their own expectations. She has her teaching certification through the State of New Jersey.

An alumna and valedictorian of Ilan High School, Mrs. Hazan earned her bachelor's degree from Adelphi University and master's degree from Daemon College. She has participated in extensive training as a teacher of AP Political Science through the College Board. A participant in the University of California Santa Cruz teacher mentoring program, Mrs. Hazan brings innovative techniques and new media technologies into her classroom, using the tools of the present to shine light on the past. Mrs. Hazan, our ninth grade class adviser, is a beloved teacher and a wonderful role model for our students.

Mrs. Lauren Kadi is a veteran math instructor with a stellar record in preparing students for the SAT exam and enhancing their mathematical understanding through cutting-edge instructional methodologies and concept-based instruction. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics and education from Rutgers University and worked in the prestigious Marlboro school system as well as in a private practice for standardized test preparation before joining the Ilan High School faculty.

Mrs. Kassin holds a bachelor's degree in speech communication from California State University, where she minored in Hispanic Languages and Culture. With a focus on language immersion, Mrs. Kassin gives our students the tools to speak, read, and write in Spanish, and provides them with the skills necessary for the SAT II in Spanish Language. Her enthusiasm for her subject and love for her students create a vibrant and engaging classroom atmosphere.

Mrs. Shoshana Koslowitz Chumash

A graduate of the BJJ Teacher’s Seminary, Mrs. Koslowitz earned a Bachelors degree in General Education and is completing a Masters degree in Education from Empire State College. She has taught both Judaic and General Studies in Bais Yaakov d’Rav Hirsch and MAYHS high schools and works as the program director of Camp Ahava. A native Hebrew speaker with exceptional mastery of Tanach, Mrs. Koslowitz excels in giving her students the tools to attain textual proficiency.

The Rabbi of the Ahi Ezer Torah Center and a most popular and sought-after lecturer in our community, Rabbi Mansour is a very valued member of the Ilan faculty. His weekly classes are eagerly anticipated by all as he unfolds complex topics throughout Tanach and extracts their timeless messages. His creative and dynamic presentation fosters clarity and long-term retention.

A graduate of Ilan High School, Ms. Missry has studied art, computer graphics and photography at Brookdale College and the New School for Social Research. Her gentle manner and clarity of instruction make her an approachable and beloved member of our computer room staff. Ms. Missry focuses on ensuring that each student has the computer skills to navigate today’s ever expanding technologies.
 

Dr. Iglika PavlovaScience

Dr. Pavlova received her M.S in Biotechnology from Sofia University, Bulgaria, and her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics (with a thesis on herpes viruses) from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Pavlova also received training on medical research and practice as part of the Lucille P. Markey Program in Human Pathobiology. In the following decade teaching at the University of Chicago, Dr. Pavlova was able to apply her wide interests ranging from infectious disease, medicine, and agriculture to critical thinking by developing and teaching a number of Big Problem-type courses. Her passion in teaching is using active learning to stimulate students to explore the world around them and to think rigorously about issues of concern to themselves and their community. Through the support of the National Science Foundation’s Biology Scholar’s Program, Dr. Pavlova has been doing education research with the goal of improving science education. Dr. Pavlova is involved with several professional science education societies, allowing her to keep in touch with the latest developments in education.
 

Mrs. Shoshana Rabinovicz Ivrit

A veteran and expert teacher of Ivrit, Mrs. Shoshana Rabinovicz brings a wealth of professional experience to her position at Ilan High School. As former chairperson of the Hebrew Language Department at Yeshiva University High School for Girls, Mrs. Rabinovicz authored a nationally used textbook series, Eshnav L’Ivrit, that is highly regarded in the field of Hebrew language studies. She served on the committee that wrote the Hebrew Achievement Tests for the Quebec government. She has also prepared many students for the NYU Hebrew Language exam for which they have earned up to sixteen college credits. A graduate of Bet HaMoreh, Mrs. Rabinovicz aids our students in attaining the fluency in Ivrit which fosters a sense of connection to Eretz Yisrael and serves as a portal to all of their Torah studies.

Mrs. Reichman earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology and holds a master's degree in political science from the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York, where she received a prestigious graduate fellowship. Mrs. Reichman also holds NJ State certification. A veteran educator with a vibrant personality and wonderful rapport with her students, Mrs. Reichman served as an adjunct lecturer at Hunter College and a research assistant at Queens College. Before joining the Ilan community, Mrs. Reichman was on the faculty of Manhattan High School for Girls, where she taught English, AP History, and Political Science.

Mrs. Mindy Rosenthal earned her bachelor's degree with honors and a master's degree from Adelphi University. She also holds state certification from both New York and New Jersey in regular and special education. A recipient of the prestigious “Top Five” award for her performance on the Praxis Exam, Mrs. Rosenthal is a dynamic and captivating educator who conveys a love for learning and joy in discovery to her students. A renowned lecturer and presenter, Mrs. Rosenthal gives seminars around the country on learning styles and social skills training for educators.

A teacher of Taharat HaMishpacha and Shalom Bayit in the Sephardic community for over fifteen years, Mrs. Safdieh brings a wealth of experience and insight to her inspiring classes. Through exploration of key topics relating to character development and midot, Mrs. Safdieh provides our students with building blocks for their roles as Jewish women.

A graduate of the Ateret Torah Teachers Seminary, Mrs. Semah is a talented and sought-after educator. Mrs. Semah’s innovative Woman of Valor course is a highlight of the senior year, training our young women to use the role models of the past as a template for their future. Rabbi Reuven Semah Halachah

Rabbi Semah, a highly regarded and respected Rabbi and Posek, received his Rabbinic ordination from Yeshivat Porat Yosef in Jerusalem, and currently serves as the Rabbi of Congregation Magen Abraham in West Long Branch. His highly applicable lessons enable students to incorporate his teachings into their lives, and his availability at all times to answer their queries and provide guidance is a highlight of the Ilan experience.

An alumna and former valedictorian of Ilan High School, Mrs. Elana Shemueli is a valued member of our faculty. She holds a bachelor's degree from Adelphi University and has undergone extensive training in computer programs and applications. A former participant in the University of California at Santa Cruz/Avichai Foundation JNTP program, Mrs. Shemueli stays on the cutting edge of technology and pedagogy to ensure that our students receive a first-rate computer education.

An alumna of Ilan High School, Miss Shmueli is savvy in all things computers. She received her Certification in Graphic Design from Brand Right. Miss Shmueli was also mentored in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, as well as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel. She is currently teaching the Juniors Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator in preparation for creating their yearbook next year.
 

Mrs. Shevy Shurkin Art

A graduate of Gateshead Teacher’s Training College, Mrs. Shurkin has an Associate’s Degree in computer science from Parsons School of Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Monmouth University. Founder and director of the Madison Art School, Mrs. Shurkin is a master teacher and a passionate artist who succeeds in bringing out the creative abilities of each student. With a synthesis of patience and skill, Mrs. Shurkin enables our students to create beautiful masterpieces.

Chana Stamler received her BA in English Literature from Empire State College. She has created reading and writing workshops and literature programs focusing on comprehension, analysis, and interpretation. Holding a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Cleveland State University and teacher certification from Yavne Teacher’s College, Mrs. Stein is continuously upgrading her repertoire with expanding technologies.

A graduate of BJJ Teachers Seminary, Mrs. Taub holds a bachelor's degree in psychology. Mrs. Taub has taught at many fine institutions, among them the JEC in Elizabeth and the Rabbi Jacob Joseph School for Girls in Staten Island. Mrs. Taub is devoted to aiding her students’ development of analytic and critical thinking skills. Her courses are known for their clarity of presentation and differentiated instruction.
